“Do not abandon yourselves to despair. We are the Easter people
and hallelujah is our song.” ~ Pope John Paul II
March 29 – April 4
Holy Week is the last week of Lent and the week before Easter. The week includes the religious holidays of Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday and Good Friday. It begins on Palm Sunday and concludes on Saturday. Easter Sunday is the first day of the new season. During Holy Week, we commemorate the Passion of Christ. Jesus died on Good Friday in reparation for the sins of humanity and rose on Easter Sunday to give hope and new life to all who believe. Thus, while Holy Week is quite solemn and sorrowful, it also anticipates the joy of Easter through the recognition of God’s sacrifice for each and every one of us!
