Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test

The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) measures whether students are meeting the minimum literacy standard across all subject areas up to the end of gr. 9. This school year, the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) will be offering the computer-based online OSSLT to eligible students across the province. Successful completion of this is one of the requirements of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

This year our students will receive multiple opportunities to write and fulfill the literacy test graduation requirement. During the week of November 22-26, our grade 10 and 11 students participated in an attempt at this year’s literacy test. Click here to learn more.

Community Service Hours

Grade 9-12 students are encouraged to acquire community service hours throughout the year, including the summer months. Use this form to document your volunteer hours. Secondary students in our province must complete 40 hours of community service to receive an Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Click here, or contact Student Services, for more detailed volunteer information and opportunities in our area.

In 2021-2022, the required number of hours for community service will be reduced from 40 to a minimum of 20 hours for graduating students. This is consistent with changes made in the 2020-2021 school year.
