Julie Huckabone is thrilled to return to Bishop Smith Catholic High School in September as principal. After three years as vice-principal at Bishop Smith, she became the principal of St. Andrew’s, Killaloe, in 2017 and then of St. Joseph’s, Arnprior, in 2019. The opportunity to come back to Bishop is an exciting one, and she is looking forward to joining the Bishop family as we look towards the new school year.
Julie lives in Cobden with her husband and three teenaged children and is a parishioner at St. Michael’s Parish in Douglas. She is a lifelong learner. She is passionate about inclusion, student success and seeking pathways for all, particularly through the trades and experiential learning.
Katie Scott is coming to Bishop Smith Catholic High School from vice principal at Our Lady of Sorrows in Petawawa. Katie has a wealth of experience in the RCCDSB community and brings a rich diversity of experience and knowledge with her. She has taught at Bishop Smith, St. Joseph’s, Our Lady of Fatima and St. Francis of Assisi. At Bishop Smith, she worked in various assignments in grade eight, the mathematics department, special education department and guidance. Katie is also a former graduate of Bishop Smith and she is excited to be coming back. She has taken on many leadership roles within her schools to benefit student learning.
Katie lives in Pembroke with her husband James and three children. They are members of the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. Katie enjoys an active lifestyle, playing any game or sport with her children and volunteers with several local sports associations. Katie is passionate about Catholic education and is a lifelong learner. She takes pride in making deep connections with students to benefit their learning and to shape their wellbeing. She looks forward to developing meaningful relationships with the students, staff and Bishop Smith families. Katie is excited and blessed to bring her experiences and ideas to the Bishop Smith community in September 2021.
